CEO of Asian Finance Bank Berhad
Datuk Mohamed Azahari Kamil was graduated from
the Institut Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Shah Alam with a Diploma in Banking in
1980 and subsequently obtained his BBA in Finance from the Western Michigan
University in 1982. He obtained his MBA
in Finance from the Central Michigan University in the U.S. in 1984.
Datuk Mohamed Azahari Kamil has been the Chief Executive Officer of
Asian Finance Bank Berhad since August 2008.
Asian
Finance Bank Berhad, a full-fledged Islamic Bank that was incorporated on 28
November 2005 and backed by a consortium of shareholders from leading Middle
Eastern financial institutions – Qatar Islamic Bank (66.67%), RUSD Investment
Bank Inc (16.67%), Tadhamon International Islamic Bank (10%) and Financial
Assets Bahrain W.L.L (6.67%) .
Currently, Asian Finance Bank Berhad (AFB) is one of the three foreign
Islamic Banks that has been granted a license by Bank Negara Malaysia ( The
Central Bank of Malaysia ) to undertake Islamic Banking business. Asian Finance
Bank is regulated and supervised by Bank Negara Malaysia under the Islamic
Banking Act, 1983.
There are a lot of things which
share by Datuk during the talk. First
of all, Datuk had share about what is the entrepreneur and the basic criteria
that should have by an entrepreneur in order to success. As an entrepreneur, he or she should have own
mission, right positive attitude, leadership, energy, and also optimism as well
as courage. However, entrepreneurship is
not totally related to business, but it is more to the diversity of
culture. Therefore, as a smart
entrepreneur they should think globally because entrepreneur is not something
to learn but it is something to preserve.
Besides that, Datuk had mentioned
also regarding the factors of success in business or life, which are:
1)
All of us have
the spirit of entrepreneur and mutual
exchange of opportunities to be success
or be a leader. For instance, the spirit
of entrepreneur is like able to contribute toward the development of society
and nature of environment.
2)
In addition, the
fear of God is the main factor to be success. As a entrepreneur,
no matter what diligent
or expertise u have, the respect or fear to God must have
and automatically it
will make the person become more integrity and discipline. Once, we have those integrity and discipline,
therefore whatever the business we conduct will lead to successful way.
3)
Economic is
always transparent, so we must be honestly, practically empathy
and have the responsibility.
4)
As a
entrepreneur, we must able to take achievable risk and emphasize the skill of development
by creativity unique
distinction
between ourselves with our colleague
5)
Leadership is
tested based on consistency, so we must look at ourselves regarding what is our
own strength and weakness because consistency will help to improve ourselves
for success in future.
6)
On the other
hand, we must always be humble and polite no matter what result we get, what qualification
(degree) we come from, because humanity is a very important ingredient and
aspect in order to be successful.
Therefore, arrogant is not available or allow in entrepreneurship.
7)
Furthermore, the
aspect or criteria of teamwork, integrity, relationship and reciprocal are
required in order to be a success entrepreneur.
However, relationship has play 3x important role compare to others. So, we should know basic management 101 skills
when making relationship with clients.
For instance, one of the skills is be nice to other people.
Continuously, there are some advices or suggestions
which share by Datuk during the talk which are:
1) Competition is only good if it regulated and
discipline at all. That is because
competition in market today will kill economic if any firm or organization have
control the market.
2) Besides, Datuk also encourage
the spirit of partnership for business success. Spirit of partnership, win-win situation, and wealth must be share is those
criteria or aspect needed in entrepreneurship in order to success within the
limited sources.
Entrepreneur
should able to determine the niche market, ability to kiss the hand and knee,
and have their owe value preposition in order to persuade and satisfy their
clients need.
3)
Furthermore, the control of
government in market competition are needed for protect the wealth of nation.
4)
Datuk also encourage the spirit of sharing
and equitable distribution of wealth among the community so that the rich and
poor can be stay in peaceful life.
5) On the
other hand, challenge of failure must be appreciated as the platform to learn
how to overcome the obstacle. As a smart
entrepreneur, they should not blame others for the failure. In addition, reciprocation is very important
because most of the failure is caused by not have reciprocation.
Last but not least, Datuk also determine the aspect
of ordinary graduate versus extraordinary graduate. Datuk had emphasized the question of ‘why no
employ’. He had mentioned that community
today is more focus on those extraordinary
graduate compare to ordinary graduate.
In addition, Datuk had used the sentences of ‘distance between the Earth
and the Moon’ for student work life. So
as the way for survive in the market, we should be the extraordinary graduate
and must have the ambitious to be CEO in future. Besides that, Datuk also mentioned that our
country is going to be high income economy country during the year of
2018. Therefore, we must realize that we
are the important people in contribute our country to be success as modern
country. As conclusion, academic does
not the main point for determine our success.
It is basic passport for our life but not the passport to be
billion. Therefore, hardworking and
motivation must needed in order to success.
Besides that, we must never look down on people because everyone has
ultimate achievement.
